This course is designed in reference to the content and relevant requirements of the Social Welfare Department’s “Training Course for Residential Care Home Administrators (Course B)”. It aims to equip students with knowledge and skills in residentialcare home operations, human resources, and quality management, thereby enhancingtheir managerial capabilities and the overall service quality of residential carehomes.
The course adopts an interactive approach combining lectures, Q& A sessions,and classroom discussions. This not only enables students to master the essential
knowledgeand skills required of a residential care home administrator, but also enhances their written and oral presentation skills through various classroom activities and self-study.
Admission Requirements:
1. Hong Kong resident;
2. Level 2 orabove in Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary EducationExamination (HKDSE) / Grade E or above in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE); or equivalent qualifications; and
3. A HM workingin RCHE or RCHD, or other staff nominated by RCH.
OR
1. Hong Kong resident;
2. Completed Secondary 5 (Old Senior Secondary curriculum) or Secondary 6 (New Senior Secondary curriculum);
3. A HM workingin RCHE or RCHD, or other staff nominated by RCH;
4. Possess 1 yearor more of administrative experience involving management in a residential carehome for the elderly or persons with disabilities; and
5. Must pass a Chinese reading and writing proficiency test to be eligible for admission.
Course Content:
1) Human Resources Management (Human Resources Management, Staff Training)
2) Quality Management (Formulating and Implementing Service Quality Standards)
3) Operations Management (Daily Management, Quality Client Service, Handling Staff Accidents, Implementing Occupational Safety, Ordinances and Codes of Practice)
Certificates will only be issued to learners who attend no less than 80% of course lectures, and pass both the overall course assessment (i.e. no less than 60%) and each individual assessment component (i.e. no less than 60%).
Course Fee: $6,000
Staff nominated by the RCHs: This course is recognized under the Social Welfare Department’s "Training Subsidy Scheme for Staff of Residential Care Homes"(2024-27). Nominated staff who meet the scheme’s criteria will receive a full tuition fee refund upon successful completion of the course.
Self-Enrollment by Individual Staff: This course is included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund (CEF).The tuition fee is only $1,500 per installment/month (payable in 4 installments). After the CEF subsidy, the net course fee is $1,200*.
* The actual subsidy amount may vary depending on the usage status of the applicant’s personal CEF account.
