This course aims to teach basic health concepts and practical skills training through classroom instruction, enabling students to understand the knowledge and techniques of physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Successful graduates will be qualified to work as occupational therapy assistants in physiotherapy or elderly service industries.

Entry Requirements:

  1. Completed Form 3 or possess equivalent/above qualifications (including junior high school graduation in Mainland China); or have at least one year of relevant work experience; and
  2. Ability to understand and read basic English vocabulary.

Course Content:

  1. Understanding basic health and the fundamental concepts of physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
  2. Basic concepts and related knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  3. Mastery of the usage of physiotherapy equipment and foundational physiotherapy techniques.
  4. Application of basic physiotherapy methods and techniques to provide physiotherapy services under the guidance of a physiotherapist, while considering occupational safety and health as well as the safety of service recipients.
  5. Ability to explain the service content and effects to service recipients; understanding how to respond promptly and report to the physiotherapist if any discomfort occurs during treatment.
  6. Recognition of the symptoms, assessment, and treatment of cognitive impairment, along with mastery of group leadership techniques for cognitive impairment.
  7. Mastery of daily living training for the elderly.
  8. Understanding the cleaning, maintenance, and repair methods for common rehabilitation supplies.
  9. Awareness of home environment safety concepts and precautions.

Attendance and Certification:

Attendance must reach 80% or above, and students must pass both the final written exam and practical assessment (with as core of 50% or above) to receive a certificate.

Fee:

$7,500

(Payable in 5 installments, with each installment (monthly) being $1,500. After receiving support from the Continuing Education Fund, the course fee will be $1,500*.)
