Diploma in Health worker Integrated Training

"Diploma in Health Worker Integrated Training" and "Diploma in Care Workers" are recognized by the Social Welfare Department and have successfully passed the assessment of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications as qualifications framework-recognized courses. Students with an attendance rate of at least 90%, who attend all institutional visits, internships in elderly homes and homes for persons with disabilities, and pass the exams, will be awarded the "Diploma in Health Worker Integrated Training" or"Diploma in Care Workers." They may also apply to the Social Welfare Department for registration as care workers, in accordance with the"Residential Care Homes (Persons with Disabilities) Regulation."

The following courses have been included in the list of courses eligible for reimbursement under the Continuing Education Fund (CEF).

Diploma in Health Worker Integrated Training (353 hours)

This course is recognized under the qualifications framework (Qualification Framework Level 3).

  • Two evenings a week, part-time course, suitable for working individuals.
  • Upon completion, students can apply to the Social Welfare Department to become registered care workers in elderly homes and homes for persons with disabilities.

Entry Requirements:

  1. Hong Kong resident; and
  2. Completed Form 5 or possess equivalent/above qualifications; or have completed the "Advanced Training Certificate for Care Workers" recognized by the Social Welfare Department; and
  3. Pass an interview (including an English written test).

Course Content:

  1. Introduction to Elderly and Disability Services
  2. Introduction to Nursing and Basic Nursing Skills
  3. Anatomy and Physiology, Care for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities
  4. Psychological and Mental Health Care for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities
  5. Topics related to Nursing Work:
       
    • (1) Care for Activities of Daily Living
    •  
    • (2) Management and Communication in Facilities
    •  
    • (3) Basic First Aid Knowledge and Accident Handling
    •  
    • (4) Lifting and Transferring
    •  
    • (5) Medication Handling and Infection Control
    •  
    • (6) Discharge Planning

Internships:

  • Internship in elderly homes and homes for persons with disabilities (80 hours)
  • Facility visits (16 hours)

*Attendance rate must reach 90% or above for classes, and 100% for visits and internships. Both the written and practical assessments must be passed (with a score of 60% or above) to receive a certificate.

Fee:

$16,800

(Payable in 12 installments, with each installment (monthly) being $1,400. After receiving support from the Continuing Education Fund, the course fee will be $4,220*.)
*The amount of funding may vary depending on the applicant's usage of theContinuing Education Fund account.

Registration Fee: $100
(The registration fee is used for processing registration and interviewadministrative matters and is non-refundable. Additionally, this fee does notqualify for reimbursement under the Continuing Education Fund.)

Diploma in Care Workers (273 hours)

This course is recognized under the qualifications framework (Qualification Framework Level 3).

  2. Completed Form 5 or possess equivalent/above qualifications (see the minimum entry requirements for the "Care Workers Training Course" by the Social Welfare Department); or have completed the "Advanced Training Certificate for Care Workers" recognized by the Social Welfare Department; and
  3. Pass an interview (including an English written test).

Course Content:

  1. Introduction
  2. Introduction to Nursing and Human Anatomy
  3. Physiological Conditions and Care for the Elderly
  4. Psychological and Mental Health Care for the Elderly
  5. Topics related to Nursing Work

Internships:

  • Internship in elderly homes (40 hours)
  • Facility visits (8 hours)

$12,100

(Payable in 11 installments, with eachinstallment (monthly) being $1,100. After receiving support from the ContinuingEducation Fund, the course fee will be $2,420*.)
